A clinical trial is being organised to study the use of Idebenone in treating LHON in the early (acute) stage.
Idebenone is a drug which may be able to reduce the damage to the optic nerve caused by the LHON in the early or Acute stage. This is the first few months after sysmptoons start, when the eyesight is still getting worse.
